School Groups and Kindergartens

The Baselitz / Rainer LUSTSPIEL, Neues aus dem Atelier exhibition presents exclusively new works by Georg Baselitz (b.1938) and Arnulf Rainer (b.1929), which, in the unusual setting of the classicist Frauenbad in Baden is certain to be a very special experience. These vivacious, colourful works and the fascinating contrast between the two artists provide food for thought for children and young people on a number of different levels.

FARBENSPIEL (COLOUR PLAY)
Kindergarten and Pre-school

Children will be taken on a journey through the museum to explore the
many ways in which colour is used in the work of Arnulf Rainer and
Georg Baselitz. Young visitors can even turn themselves into colours and
try to find themselves in the paintings, to imitate their forms of movement
and to learn about what lies hidden beneath the painted colours.

TYPICAL RAINER! TYPICAL BASELITZ! TYPICAL ME!
1st + 2nd Grade primary schoolchildren

A brief tour of the museum provides a more detailed exploration of the two artists, Arnulf Rainer and
Georg Baselitz . One became famous for his overpaintings, the other for placing his paintings upside down. We design pictures in a free interpretation of Rainer and Baselitz and ask ourselves what is typical in our own works. What are our "trademarks"? What artistic pseudonym could we adopt? And what is in fact "typical me"?

ARNULF RAINER MEETS GEORG BASELITZ - One says to the other ...
3rd + 4th grade primary school

In the exhibition Baselitz / Rainer LUSTSPIEL, New works from the studio Arnulf Rainer and Georg Baselitz come together and their paintings engage in a dialogue.
Similarities and differences in both artists' work are explored, and the typical characteristics of each painter noted.
In the studio, "Arnulf Rainer and Georg Baselitz" paint a picture together that reflects particular aspects of their work.

BUT I KNEW THAT ALREADY!
1st to 4th grade secondary school

What makes some artists more successful than others? How easy is it to realise your dreams in such a career? Fundamental questions about ways of working, finding ideas and putting them into practice in artworks are addressed and discussed together. The original artworks in the exhibition provide the inspiration for the practical part of this education programme, explored as themselves, then re-envisaged and transformed into something completely new.

HIP AND HISTORICAL?
5th + 6th grades secondary school

What is art today? What meaning does art have for us? Is there something that constitutes or characterizes the art
of today? The art world is affected by the different movements and styles of its time. Contemporary themes as well
as interaction with historical aspects that are long gone characterize art - including the works of Rainer and Baselitz. Working against the mainstream: is such a thing actually possible?
Interactive dialogue and short workshop exercises provide food for thought.

IDENTITY - SOCIETY - ART
7th to 9th grade secondary school

Arnulf Rainer und Georg Baselitz experienced authoritarian political systems in their childhood and youth. They found the freedom to work as artists in states ruled by democratic means.
With this focus in mind, the question is explored of whether and how the two artists engaged with external influences such as these, how much they were influenced by them, and how they see their own identity as artists.

In the process the biographies of both artists will first be examined. Following this, the views and standpoints of both artists in their own words will be presented, compared and discussed. In the practical and creative session, students
will then have the opportunity to engage with criteria relating to finding one's own identity.
